!OpenVanilla is a collection of popular Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese and symbol input methods and language tools.

!OpenVanilla makes it possible for you to "switch" without having to adapt to platform differences. Although most modern desktop environments (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux/FreeBSD desktop) have built-in input methods, many of them fail to address the needs of local users that can type nimbly because of the muscle memory built over time on a specific platform. !OpenVanilla fills the gap and aims to extend input method beyond everyday text entry.

!OpenVanilla is an open-source project. Its source code and packages are released under the BSD License. We hope to provide you with the best open-source input method tools, and we welcome contributions to the project.

!OpenVanillaは多言語入力法のコレクションである。台湾、香港、中国での人気な入力法なく、日本語（Anthy）、チベット語などの入力法も提供します。ユーザーが自分で新しい入力法の創建も可能です。

!OpenVanilla在台灣常被稱為香草輸入法，這是一套輸入法工具組，在多種作業系統上提供各種中文、台文、日文等語言的輸入法及語言工具。

!OpenVanilla讓使用者不用改變原有的輸入習慣。現代的作業系統一定會提供輸入法，但往往有不盡人意或不合本地使用者需要處。!OpenVanilla能解決這個問題，並嘗試讓輸入法不只是單純的文字輸入工具。

!OpenVanilla支援Mac OS X、Windows及Linux/FreeBSD等作業系統。標準安裝包括了以下輸入法：

 * 注音
 * 酷音
 * 倉頡
 * 簡易
 * 行列
 * 大易
 * 符號
 * 台文（台灣閩南語白話字）
 * 日文（Anthy）
 * 簡體拼音
 * 簡體五筆

同時，標準安裝也提供簡繁／繁簡中文轉換、全型英數字輸出等模組。

!OpenVanilla最大的特色是其延展性。使用者只要取得輸入法表格，透過!OpenVanilla的泛用輸入法模組，便能自行創造出新的輸入法。例如各種倉頡變體、客語（Hakka）、希臘文，甚至是克林貢文（Klingon）等。

同時，!OpenVanilla也簡化了輸入法和相關工具的開發。使用!OpenVanilla Framework API開發的輸入法，能開發出智慧型歐語輸入、藏文等新式輸入法，也能開發諸如文字風格轉換（例如將中文轉換為1920年代文藝腔、繁體漢字轉日文漢字）、使用者詞彙管理、螢幕小鍵盤等模組。
